WATCH Hon. Jibrin Speak on #Budget2016 Padding Controversy
The former Chairman, House Appropriation Committee, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, in an interview with Channels Television‘s Seun Okin has reiterated that there were a lot of “senseless and reckless insertions” in the 2016 Budget.
Jibrin, in what he called a “no holds barred interview”, said that the amount of insertions in the budget were to the tune of N284 billion, an amount he said came from 10, out of the 96 standing committees in the House.
He said he has always objected to the “padding” of the budget and that the speaker, Yakubu Dogara, moved the Appropriations secretariat to another location, to insert about N20 billion into the budget.
He also said that there were also “issues” concerning the budget in the Ministry of Finance, Budget Ministry, and the Budget Office. According to Jibrin, “these issues will lead to a revolution in the National Assembly”.
