Kenyan Jesus, Gucci Glasses & OluwaCassper | Here’s What Went Down this Week
This week was quiet. It’s like people started taking the advice: stay hydrated and mind your business. But quiet no mean say yawa no gas. People will always misbehave, and we will always laugh. Let’s get into it.
Gucci Glasses
Because if she doesn’t give us, how do we take it? Ehn?
That was exactly what the Anambra State governor’s wife, Ebele Obiano, was thinking when she decided to attend that event—we hear it was a burial—wearing the limited edition $2,755 Gucci mask dotted with Swarovski crystals.
She gave us, and here’s how we took it.

Chi-Our-Mama on British Vogue Cover
British Vogue says when making a list of women who should feature on the cover of their Forces of Change issue, our Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was at the top. Why? Her phenomenal work with feminism, and her beautiful, beautiful novels.
The September issue, guest edited by the Duchess of Sussex, had Adichie with the line: “I long for more stories of women who are strong without being superheroes, who do not need to be extraordinary to be admirable.”
Our very own iconic woman, in person of ‘Chimamanda’ covers vogue with other 18 icons.

OluwaCassper, a Nigerian
South African rapper, Cassper Nyovest, quoting a Nigerian fan, said he wishes he were Nigerian. Why? Because Nigerians support their own. We mostly play local content on our TV and radio. We love our artists.
South Africans, though, did not want to hear it. They were not very happy. They were not having it.
Won’t even lie. I wish i was from Nigeria too. The love they have for thier own artists, the way they celebrate their culture, 90% local content on radio and Tv, there way they celebrate their music no matter where they are in the world, the unity within thier industry. A DREAM! https://t.co/goh02gHjtB

The Jason Njoku Tweet that Shook Twitter
Tech entrepreneur and investor Jason Njoku is raising his children to survive in a globalised future. So he’s giving them the tools necessary: having them learn French, then Mandarin. The children, however, do not speak Igbo, their mothertongue. Aka, it’s not a necessary tool for survival in the future. The world won’t shake from its foundations, he says.
My children are currently learning French. Mandarin will be up next. I intend for them to develop this over the next 10 years. They can’t speak Igbo (neither can I). Its okay. The world won’t shake from its foundations.
— JasonNjoku (@JasonNjoku) July 29, 2019
Learning a language is so much more than learning vocabulary. It’s learning about (your) culture. I could never deny my kids what is part of them. Thats why we are speaking Swiss German and Igbo at home. Isee!
— Nwanyi Ocha (@nwanyi_ocha) July 30, 2019
Good, but you and they should learn Igbo as well. Stop making excuses. If the English, French and Chinese did not preserve their language and teach them to their children and other nations via colonizations, etc., your children will not be learning these languages today.
— Ogbonnaya (@Cogb123) July 30, 2019
Had a Japanese girlfriend that grew up in California but originally from Okinawa. She thought me Japanese & I insisted she learn Igbo & alas, she started speaking. Her name used to be Adaeze Motoko Nyaiso. Don’t fling away the language of ur ancestors nwokem
— IKEMEFUNA (@BlackIgboLord) July 30, 2019
Even with that, they will never be accepted among the French and Chinese, they way they will be accepted within their own home land. Foreign countries have spent eons trying to eradicate our languages, let’s not help them in the process.
— Inthemidstofher (@Inthemidstofher) July 29, 2019
My wife is Tanzanian, progressing in asụsụ Igbo. My 3 yr old son Odigomma speaks, Igbo, Swahili & English & will be going for Mandarin & French class too. So, i fu go nụ na ọ nweghị ihe ụra mere anya? Ị speak Igbo,English Zulu,Xhosa Malay & Japanese.

TEACH YOUR CHILDREN THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE & CULTURE. This is how y’all keep racial superiority stereotypes alive in your own communities through the embarrassment of your own heritage. pic.twitter.com/IzeEG93fD7

Kenyan Jesus
Blood of Jesus! Lmao, did actual humans fall for this s**t? Did people with brains see a man in a white robe and flowing blond hair and because of that believe he was Jesus. I have actually died.
I don’t understand, isn’t Jesus supposed to be in hevaven? Why is he going on a safari? Kenyans, please, what do you have to say for yourselves? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELVES?!
If you haven’t seen the video of Jesus entering Kenya today, here it is!

In Kenya, some pastors invited a fake “Jesus” to come preach, and the people there are literally praising him.
This is pathetic.
And this is the very reason why FBA have to prioritize our own issues domestically, because too many of these other folks are too far gone #smh pic.twitter.com/oENBtZOKo4
