My father comes through for me every time. I always say to people that he’s my love, and as long as I’m not married yet, he will continue to be my go-to source for everything.
However, a particular incident comes to mind.
When I was in secondary school, I misplaced the balance (or I spent it, can’t remember now) of my school fees, and I was so scared to tell my mom. So I kept quiet and was hoping for a miracle.
Three weeks after, my school gave me a note to give my mom. Knowing fully well that my mom must not find out, I called my dad and exchanged pleasantries with him. I kept quiet for a while, waited until he asked what happened. I started crying.
He was like, “Do you need money?”
I said, “Yes.”
He said, “What for?”
I started stammering.
He said to me, “Tell me the truth.”
So I explained everything to him. He scolded me there and then, then said, “Okay.” Lo and behold, he sent the money through my mum’s account, and he told her that he wants me to give someone money on his behalf. I went to pay the balance of the fees the next day.
Till date, my mom does not know this story.
My father, My father. I love him wholeheartedly.
