R. Kelly appears in Court to Challenge Sexual Abuse Suit
R. Kelly appeared in court on Tuesday for a brief hearing on his aggravated sexual abuse case.
Attorney Michael Avenatti had presented two videos claiming that the RnB star was having sex with a 14-year old girl.
According to TMZ, R. Kelly’s lawyers argued that there’s something fishy between Avenatti and Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.
In R. Kelly’s legal documents, the singer said Foxx is one who is “able to be influenced and wowed,” citing the Jussie Smollett case.
The judge also asked the lawyers to shed more light on their claims. The lawyers have asked that all communications between Avenatti and Foxx be preserved.
Avenatti the defence already have texts and emails between him and Foxx.
Speaking to TMZ, R. Kelly’s publicist Darrell Johnson said: “Mr. Kelly steadfastly proclaims his innocence and looks forward to a speedy trial. Again, the state has failed to bring forth any proof concerning the sex tape, while claiming there was wrong doing!”
