Development Executive Michael Ajayi of Enactus Nigeria is our #BellaNaijaMCM this Week!

#BellaNaijaMCM feature this week is celebrating Michael Ajayi, the Country Director (Nigeria) of Enactus, a global non-profit organisation, which uses experiential learning in its effort to create a better world while developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators.

Enactus is a community of student, academic, and business leaders unified by its vision—to create a better, more sustainable world, using innovation and business principles.

Michael, a graduate of Water Resources & Environmental Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria, joined Enactus Nigeria in 2009, rising through the ranks from Programme Officer to Programme Manager, and then Country Director, in 2014.

Michael has been involved in community mobilisation, grass-roots developmental projects, and youth and women empowerment programs with the aim of achieving the UN sustainable development goals.

Enactus Nigeria, under Michael’s leadership, has also held leadership trainings across universities in Nigeria, as well as organise social innovation competitions for undergraduates.

He was selected by the US government as one of the participants for the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), where he partook in the Fulbright – Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, a ten months of non-degree academic study and related professional experiences in the United States. Selection is based on applicants’ potential for leadership and their commitment to public service in either the public or the private sector.

In 2018, he was named in Avance Media’s “Most Influential Young Nigerians” list.

We celebrate Michael for his commitment to social innovation and development, and capacity building for the future of Nigeria and the world at large.
