Serena Williams’ “secret” Serena Ventures Invested in Andela
In 2014, Serena Williams founded an investment fund, Serena Ventures, whose mission is “giving opportunities to founders across an array of industries.”
We bet you didn’t know that. You’re not alone. Serena just made this public knowledge this week.
“Serena Ventures invests in companies that embrace diverse leadership, individual empowerment, creativity and opportunity,” the 23-time Grand Slam champion disclosed in an Instagram post.
Among the over 30 companies the fund has invested in, is Andela, the software developer training and outsourcing company operating in four African countries.
Serena Ventures has also invested in Masterclass, an online learning platform, and Wave, a remittance service with operations in five African countries.
