Why Court Nullified Kano PDP Guber Flag-bearer’s Candidature
Premium Times reports that a Federal High Court in Kano on Monday nullified the primaries that led to the election of Abba Yusuf as the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State.
One of the PDP aspirants Ibrahim Amin-Little had filed a suit challenging the process that led to Yusuf’s emergence as the party’s candidate.
Justice Lewis Allagoa ruled that the PDP did not conduct primaries in the state and declared Yusuf’s candidature null and void.
The PDP should conduct another primary election before the March 9th gubernatorial elections, the judge said.
Amin-Little is one of several guber aspirants of the PDP who Premium Times reports, “could not participate in the primary of the party when a senator and former governor of the state, Rabiu Kwankwaso, joined PDP and endorsed Yusuf as the party’s governorship candidate.”
