Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie delivered the keynote speech at University of South Africa‘s Nelson Mandela Tribute event.

For the event, the renowned author wore a David Tlale outfit, and the story behind it is interesting. Safe to say Adichie’s #WearNigerian campaign has now been expanded to #WearAfrican.

Been planning to broaden my project from #WearNigerian to #WearAfrican. Virgin Atlantic inadvertently hastened things today: I arrived Johannesburg from London but my suitcase didn’t. Nothing to wear. Event only hours away. And then this gorgeous outfit from South African designer David Tlale saved the day. I loved it. And I wore the skirt back to front, to honor that lovely detailing… ~CNA
