The maiden edition of the NextU Conference hosted by Pensions Alliance Limited (PAL Pensions) has been spreading like wildfire inspiring the next generation of stars in universities across the geopolitical zones of Nigeria (UNIPORT, OAU, UNIBEN, ABU ZARIA & UNILAG). The theme of the conference is tagged “Create The Future”. The conference aims to educate young individuals on financial literacy and employability while unlocking the potential that awaits them in their future, which starts by making the right choice now.

Beyond the University of Benin, the next step of the#NextUtrain would be the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria (on Thursday, August 30th, 2018) and the University of Lagos.

Date: Thursday, August 30th, 2018
Venue: Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna and University of Lagos, Lagos State.

In line with our mission to be the leading pensions fund administrator providing value, PAL Pension consistently seeks opportunities to give back to the society with the NextU conference being one of such initiatives. As an organization, we understand that the word“career” means different things to the youth of today, which is what informed the choice of speakers for the event. The speakers range from professional career men and women to entrepreneurs, Investment experts, IT gurus, Entertainers amongst many others. Our lineup of speakers included: Seyi Law (Comedian and Actor), Shola Akinlade (Co-founder/CEO, Paystack), TemiGiwa (CEO, Lifebank), Tomi Balogun (Founder, Green Investment Club); Vincent Egbe (CEO, GB Foods); Shola Amusan (Philanthropies Lead at Microsoft Nigeria and Author of ‘Are you Branded or Stranded’), Frank Donga (Actor and Comedian), Saudat Salami (CEO EasyShopEasyCook) and Bash the Cash(Comedian and Actor),  as the host.

Aside from the knowledge sharing and panel sessions by the speakers, participants were also given the opportunity to ask questions and sell themselves in 2 minutes, a hard task that sees the winners of the competition take home a handsome reward. A major highlight of the event was the CV reviews and Mock Interview sessions conducted by JobberMan, to properly guide participants on how to develop and organize CVs that can help them get good jobs.

The event attracted over 2000 students in the University of Port-Harcourt, 5000in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and over 1500 students in the University of Benin owing to the quality of the offering. As a proof of instant impact on the participants of the #NextU conference life-changing testimonies abound:

“I am so glad that I was a part of your program at #OAU. I have learnt so much and I have been more than inspired but I’ve also been given a clear vision of where I’m heading… I am really thankful to all the speakers and the PAL Pensions management” – @OlayinkaLois on twitter (OAU)

“Sincerest gratitude to PAL Pensions for this show. I’m highly honoured and happy that I was a part of it. I learnt a lot today in a fun-filled way. I hope you people host another soonest. Because of you guys, my future has gotten dotted lines and by the grace of God I will map it out. Thanks once more” – West Nimi, on Facebook (UNIPORT).
