Photographers, Videographers & Creatives connect at the Nikon Social Event in Nigeria
Nikon Nigeria together with New Creation Worldwide Link Nigeria, Exclusive Nikon distributor for Nigeria concluded two consecutive, successful events celebrating photography and its facets in Nigeria. The Nikon Nigeria Photo and Video Summit concluded on May 31st, 2018, and saw a scintillating line-up of events, panels and workshops. The program took place at the Welcome Centre and Hotels, Ikeja in Lagos, Nigeria. On the other hand, the Nikon Social was a guided tour into the world of fashion photography hosted at the beautiful Radisson Blu hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.
Nikon Nigeria and its users are guided by a common love for photography and such events allow a more direct interaction, both between with the photographers. Such platforms for sharing ideas and expertise has become has become a Nikon trademark. In the Middle East and North Africa, its initiatives encourage young talent while providing them with a platform to gain exposure. Much like the events in Nigeria, this helps them become technically sound while allowing a rare chance to be taught by the best in the industry. In fact, Nikon Nigeria also undertook activities at the school level in Nigeria, to initiate the precocious talents to explore photography as a medium.
The Nikon Nigeria Photo Video Summit was a veritable melting point of creativity with master classes in photography and its many sub-genres. A shootout challenge was led by Brett Florens, a seasoned photographer and Kelechi Amadi- Obi, a renowned Nigerian photographer with an exceptional flair for wedding and fashion photography. Both led the participants in his workshop on ways to capture that once in a lifetime moment.
With Nigeria’s ace fashion photographer at the helm, Kelechi’s workshop was the perfect way for those looking to capture the world of haute couture and beauty. He offered valuable advice on the technicalities and art of capturing iconic moments in fashion. As our environment evolves, so must our medium of expression. With the rise of online influencers, the need to create quality visual content is crucial. Nikon school instructor Cesar Passaro had the rapt attention of the participants. He imparted valuable information on the tricks of the trade and technical knowledge that is sure to catapult them to fame.
The Summit was followed by the Nikon Social in Lagos with Brett Florens. Florens not only shared his invaluable insights into the professional sphere but also spoke on the importance of education in the photography industry. The event follows Nikon’s intensive program that allows online influencers to augment their visual content by creating images that perfectly compliment their niche. The intimate workshop has been designed to equip bloggers and Online content creators with the requisites of the visual medium. The Nigeria chapter of the Nikon Social focused on exploring fashion photography in all its glamour. The three- hour master class used D3400 and D5600 as its primary tool of expression.
