The 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards held over the weekend, Saturday 5th of May, 2018 at he Hilton Midtown Hotel in New York City.
The event was attended by Laverne Cox, Alexis Bledel, Samira Wiley, Lea Michele, Nyle DiMarco, Gloria Carter and more stars.
At the event, JAY-Z‘s mom, Gloria Carter, accepted a Special Recognition Award for the rapper’s song “Smile,” which she featured in and used to come out as a lesbian. Additionally, director Ava DuVernay accepted the Excellence in Media Award, which was presented to her by Sen. Cory Booker.
