Maina’s Recall: Court rejects AGF Malami’s Application to stop Senate Probe
The Federal High Court, Abuja has rejected the Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami‘s application to stop the Senate probe into the reinstatement of wanted former pension boss Abdulrasheed Maina, ThisDay reports.
It had been reported on Monday that Malami was seeking to stop the probe by the Nigerian Senate into the reinstatement of Maina who was sacked as the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force of Pension Reform on charges of corruption.
Malami has asked the court to determine if the National Assembly can legitimately regulate the “employment, attendance at work, disengagement, reinstatement and or promotion of a civil servant.”
The application, attended to by Justice Binta Murtala Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, was reportedly turned down.
According to ThisDay, Justice Nyako ordered the applicant to put the respondents on notice, allowing them to show up at the court and show cause why the application should not be granted.
It was reported that the court adjourned the case until January 15, to hear the motion of the notice.
