The Grand finale! Toke Makinwa awards Winners of #OnBecomingEmpowered Campaign

A few months ago, Media personality and author Toke Makinwa announced she was kickstarting a new campaign called “OnBecomingEmpowered” where she planned on giving out the sum of 3 million naira to 4 people.

Yesterday, the On Becoming Empowered grand finale took place. For this project, they had 50 participants in the first stage where each of them had to pitch their ideas to the panellists; Mai Atafo, Arese Ugwu, Japheth Omojuwa and Titilayo Oyinsan.

The participants were then shortlisted to thirty and were invited to have a brunch with Toke.

Some celebrities in the industry were also invited to share their stories, such as Tallulah Doherty, Tee-A, Debola Williams, Bolanle Olukanni, Chef Fregz, Stephanie Coker Aderinokun, and Anita Brows.

At the brunch, each finalist had to pitch their ideas and plans to the panellists one last time.

The best four were selected based on how far they’ve improved from the first stage of the competition, their originality, creativity, values and strategies.

And the winners were:

• Nworka Eyinna Chancey: Cosmetics formulator (One million naira only).
• Gbenga O. Ajana: Poultry farming (One million naira only).
• Oluwaleye Oluwatobi: Shea butter production (One million naira only).
• Sarah Sanni: Muralist/Artiste- (Five hundred thousand naira only).
