Charlie’s Angels! Ogo, Charles & the Twins, a Year After the BN Spectacular Wedding!
Ogo & Charles charmed us with their love story and amazing Abuja wedding last year! The couple met at church, and fate led them to the altar. Charles Okpaleke is the owner of Play Lounge in Abuja and also co-owner of Candy night club.
Their wedding colours were yellow, white and silver and we can see the couple is still besotted with those colours. For this family photo shoot with George Okoro Photography, Ogo wore the same yellow Manolo Blahnik pumps she sported on her wedding day!
The beautiful couple is now blessed with identical twin girls – Melifa and Kalifa, and today they share how life has been with BN.
Enjoy & be inspired!

BellaNaija Weddings: How has marriage been so far?
Ogo & Charles: It has been amazing. Nothing has changed; it still feels like we are dating.
BNW: The pregnancy happened relatively soon after the wedding, was it a big adjustment?
Charles: The pregnancy was well planned so it wasn’t a huge change for us. But when we realized we were having twins we had to make many adjustments. The pregnancy was a challenging yet awesome experience. It tied us together much more than marriage did. It also spiced up our relationship. The pregnancy brought my wife and I closer and when we had the babies, it was the most fulfilling experience ever.
How did you feel when you found out you were going to have twins?! What are their names and how did you decide them?
Charles: My wife and I were in shock because we never thought we’d be parents of twins. Never fantasized about it, but when the doctor said they were going to be identical we got even more excited.
Their Igbo names are Chimmelifa (My God won them) and Chimkalifa (My God is greater than them). So we call them Melifa and Kalifa. Their other names are Keona which is Hawaiian and means God’s gracious gift; and Asha which means Life in Swahili and Hope in Sanskrit. So Chimmelifa Keona Okpaleke and Chimkalifa Asha Okpaleke.
What’s the best thing about having twins?
Ogo & Charles: Kids in general are blessings. So first and foremost it’s double blessings. Secondly, identical twins are the most gorgeous. It’s just amazing to know that there are two people in the universe that should be the exact same and we get to watch them grow into completely different people. It’s also fun watching people try to tell them apart when we dress them alike.
How is it like being a working dad/mum?
Charles/Dad: I work for myself; so it’s basically the mental stress of putting food on the table which every entrepreneur goes through, but at least you have the luxury of choosing how to spend your time.
Ogo/Mum: With the kids I have not really had the chance to get back to work, but being a stay-at-home mom so far has really been enthralling. The workday never ends with twin girls and a husband to take care of everyday. Though staying at home is just a phase, I believe it is the most rewarding ‘career’ a mother can ever have, as I get the chance to stay home and enjoy my blessings.
What’s the best thing about marriage?
Ogo & Charles: We would have to say, the blessings that come with marriage. Once you get married to the person God chose for you, God showers you with a lot of goodies. It’s left to you to know how to manage it. Also, having a loving and caring partner that you can hang out with, who you can always count on and who has your back at all times is pretty awesome and reassuring.
What’s your advice for newlyweds and new parents?
Ogo & Charles: The first year will most likely be your most challenging year. You will be trying to get to know each other. It takes a lot of work and the effort to make your marriage work is a forever thing so be prepared and always be on your feet!
For new parents, go out of your way to keep the flame burning especially when the babies come. It is also important to share the responsibilities of raising the little ones.
Any other thing you’d like to share?
Ogo & Charles: Thanks and stay blessed!
