History is Made as Sister suceeds Sister as Chief Judge of Lagos
Some people are just meant to be doctors, others are meant to the designers, but for the Williams sisters, it is all about being the CJ of Lagos.
On Wednesday 20th August 2014, two daughters of a former judge, Justice James Williams, exchanged baton as the state’s chief judge.
At the programme held at the Adeyemi Bero Hall of the state Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, Governor Babatunde Fashola officially swore in Justice Funmilayo Atilade as the chief judge of Lagos.
Funmilayo took over from her elder sister Justice Ayotunde Philips.
After attaining the retirement age of 65, Philips, bowed out, while her sister was sworn in as the fifth female chief judge of the state.
He urged the new chief judge to work hard, saying there is more work for her to do as the chief judge.
In her acceptance speech, Atilade described herself as “a child of destiny” and promised to give her best.
