A Passion for African Fashion! View Photos from the 3rd Edition of FashionMist in London
The 3rd edition of the FashionMist recently held in London and was attended by lovers of fashion and beauty. The event had an array of diverse products, from designers to make up artists, and was the venue for showcasing young African designers who reflect the country’s creativity through their westernised pieces.
The event was also aimed at creating a network for the designers to interact and inspire the fashion conscious crowd in attendance. It took lace in two parts: the first segment entailed an exhibition which was free to attend. The exhibition has a diverse blend of products – clothes, accessories, beauty products, kids wear and men’s wear from Ayikai Couture, Celebrity Hair, House of Loulee, Kizmet Designer Jewellery, Yaa Ataa Couture Bags, Alexaire’s Box, Heritage, NADJ, Alternatives, Gita’s Portal, House of Aranu, 5th Avenue Collection, Amaya, Arhin Armah, Glamz Beautique, Jokemish, Diva Jewels and Lovely Notebooks. During the exhibition, make up artist and beauty enthusiast Chanel Boateng of Chanelboateng.com gave a seminar with useful tips and advice and a goodie bag.
The show continued with the guests having pre-drinks and interacting with each other, the press, exhibitionists and the organizers. They also had the chance to talk about the event and their experiences there with Edma Ohemaa Lawer (Ambassador for last year Nana Afua Antwi) . The second leg of the event, which took place in the evening was the highlight of the evening as designers showcased their new collections to a seated and ticketed audience. On the runway were designs from Wusuwaah’s Diary, Kolture Apparel, Sa4a, N’kya Designs, Afriqan Apeiron, A’Cote Collections, Sarfo, M.A.F Couture and Ms Ray Couture which were introduced by the hosts of the show; A-Dot and Rachael Williams with entertainment from Twi Teacher (www.twiteacher.com) and a trio of ladies; Nada, Bimpe and Starlet.
The event served a second purpose of raising funds for the WAM (What About Me!) campaign (www.wamcampaign.org) which is and initiative aimed at providing for the lives of orphans and vulnerable children living in Ghana. A raffle was held on the night and the proceeds were donated towards the campaign. Prizes for the raffle were donated by sponsors such as Sweet Handz Restaurant, Clause Bar as well as some of our participating designers including Kizmet Designer Jewellery, Sarfo, Ms Ray Couture and Sa4a.
Our Sponsors included Asafo Caterers, Sweet Handz Restaurant, Beautella and Clause Bar. Our media partners on board to make our event reach out to various audiences include BellaNaija, ZenMagazine, Shadders, NuPeople Magazine and FashionGhana.
