So far we’ve featured Tolula Adeyemi and Iman Bowie.
This week we continue our exciting series with actress, Thandie Newton.
Thandiwe Adjewa Newton better known as Thandie Newton is a BAFTA Award-winning English actress. She is the daughter of a Zimbabwean Shona princess and an English Father. She was raised in Zambia and Penzance, Cornwall, England, and attended the University of Cambridge.
Thandie made her screen debut in Flirting (1991) an Australian film also featuring Nicole Kidman. She gained international recognition with her breakthrough performances in the Merchant-Ivory production of Jefferson in Paris as Sally Hemmings and Jonathan Demme’s Beloved (1998), in which she played the title character and co-starred with Danny Glover and Oprah Winfrey.
Some of her other films include: Crash (2004), The pursuit of happyness (2006), Norbit (2007), Run, fat Boy Run (2007), RocknRolla (2008), W. (2008) and 2010(2009). Thandie is the wife of English writer/director/producer Ol Parker and mother to two daughters.
Thandie Newton’s style is as good as it gets. Her days of dressing “like a 40-year-old woman” and wearing “shapeless clothes from Ghost’’ are far behind her, now she prides herself on “having good taste” which earned her a spot on Harper’s Bazaar’s best dressed of 2009.
Thandie’s style is a mixture of various elements; she loves colours and prints, timeless vintage pieces, sexy dresses in soft pastels, feminine structured pieces and sometimes she opts for a masculine silhouette. With her style, one never gets bored as she is constantly switching it up and very consistent with her sophisticated style. Always fresh faced and with minimal accessories, she proves that less is indeed more.
I love this dress on her; the rainbow mix of colours, the embellished purse and the studed belt. It’s a gorgeous summer look, I like that she opted for nude heels to complete this look!
This is a romantic vintage piece; the tiered ruffled skirt, the lace insert at the bodice and the gold trimmings at the bottom. This is a great look for her.
Thandie jazzes things up with thigh high slits and a lace panel at the bodice! She shows a lot of skin, yet she looks nothing short of elegant in this uber sexy dress!
Thandie likes to keep things sexy and girly with lace details on her dresses. Her in this dress is red carpet perfection!
Gosh! Don’t you just love the colours! She always brightens up the red carpet. She lets this dress do all the talking with a pop of red on her lips and simple gold strappy sandals.
This nude swril pattern dress fits like a body suit on Thandie. It’s sheer, its lightweight and soft and complemented with her skin…she looks absolutely divine.
Thandie was on of the celebrities who patronised new comer now ‘overnight success’ Prabal Gurung. I like how she wears this piece; we get to see her hair in a shorter length and left down. She accents this white dress with brush painted roses by opting for bold red lips!
In subdued make-up and with her hair nicely pulled back, Thandie looks so sophisticated in this Preen LBD with mesh inserts.
Thandie opts for a menswear inspired look, with a black tailored blazer and pants paired with conservative Mary-Jane’s. I really like that she adds a feminine touch with her micro floral print blouse.
This is another floral look on her. She pairs this busy digitalized print dress with stunning Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and a black clutch to keep the look in perfect balance.
Thandie looks like a princess in this canary yellow strapless organza dress which she pairs with black patent Christian Louboutin slingbacks and an embellished clutch!
Wow! She is a vision of perfection in this dress; the colour is amazing against her skin and the dress is simply beautiful as wraps itself around her curves! I’m in love!
Thandie loves to express her love for vintage pieces my opting for dresses like this on the red carpet and they always look sensational on her!
“Bring on the colour, bring on the print and I’ll show you all how to pull it off efforlessly”; That’s what Thandie seems to be saying dressed in this Erdem piece.
This is a edgy look on her; the patent leggings, the tribal-print tunic but she restores some structure with a classic over-sized tuxedo blazer.
Thandie looks very fashion-forward in this satin tuxedo wrap dress paired with a black open-toe shoes and a beaded clutch. Tres chic!
